1) Enable DHCP on the server. 2) Setup your printer to use DHCP, save the changes and wait until the printer becomes available. 3) Once IP address is obtained, document IP address and shutdown the printer. 4) On the server, remove the documented IP address from Address Leases and add the address to the exclusion Range 5) Start the packet sniffer and bring back up the device. 6) When the printer fully powers on, top the network trace. 7) View the DHCP DORA process in the trace. (Discover, Offer, Request, Acknowledge) 8) From the trace you can extract the following information: The DHCP Request included the printer’s hostname The DHCP Request included a requested least time The requested IP address is the last IP address you entered manually 9) The printer shall get a new IP address since the old one was not part of the DHCP scope. 10) Ping the printer at its new IP address from a client to confirm it works. 11) Go back to the TCP/IP settings on the printer and observe all the
information that was obtained from the DHCP server.
